The Jan 4th party returns
Several recreational evening boating trips were run. Ours was on the 11th of January.
Again, in the interests of expediency, I’ll let the pictures tell the story.
Adelie’s on Magnetic Island
Small icebergs, but fairly big!
Nice fluting there, a little uncommon?
With the lens on telephoto, looks close eh? You have to be prepared for the icebergs to roll over
The lack of sunshine offered some moody lighting
A couple of blocks (seracs?) on top of this, perhaps deposited when the berg broke off
Slow down buddy! Many subsequent attempts for a similar photo ensued…
This would have been perfect had the camera been aimed up a bit!

Oh, I probably should have also explained that Riviera refers to meditteranean france, where the weather is always perfect
no problems, i knew that. my late father, bill lucas, was one of hte founders of davis base in 1957
